As low as 100,000 houses to be built this year have been warned by the National Housing Federation (NHF) to the UK Government, and this will is the lowest number of houses built from nearly the past one hundred years.
House-building may ‘fall off a cliff’ according to the NHF, if funding cutbacks are seen along with a ‘catastrophic’ combination of planning system. A decline of 65% can be viewed in the total number of affordable homes available this year, accounting to be merely 20,390, and it’ll be the smallest number since 1990.
In order to prevent a housing supply crisis, the last Government has set up a mark of 250,000 new homes per annum as the bare minimum amount, by the year 2020. The new Housing Minister, Grant Schapps has been urged by David Orr, the NHF Chief Executive, to honor the house-building expenditure commitments.
